Ankle Sprain

Pretty much everyone will roll an ankle at some point, resulting in an ankle sprain.

Some of those get it assessed, rehab it correctly and never do it again.

Others don’t do that, instead continue to roll their ankle until they call it their dodgy ankle (or ankles!!)

There are 2 main reasons for this

15-20% of ankle sprains also have a fracture. Missing this is a big problem.

An ankle sprain is a ligament injury. Ligaments contain position nerves that tell your brain where your ankle is. This sense needs to be retrained even if the ligament heals. Without it, you are more susceptible to the same injury.

Many bad ankles end up in surgery in the person’s 40s and 50s, just because the first time they didn’t rehab it properly. If you have to do it, just do it once, and rehab it properly.
